Default datasets

PEPs: Individuals currently employed in positions identified as politically exposed

Former PEPs: Individuals who ceased being employed in positions identified as politically exposed within the last 12 months

PEPs by association: Individuals identified as relatives and/or close associates of peps

Sanctions: Individuals currently subject to financial sanctions

Former Sanctions: Individuals previously designated by a sanction body

Adverse media: Individuals mentioned on government/court websites and/or reputable mass media for crimes relating to terrorism, organised crime, modern slavery, financial crime and fraud, bribery and corruption, and cybercrime

Law enforcement: Individuals named in press releases by law enforcement (e.g. Metropolitan Police, City of London Police) as well as published lists (e.g. Serious Crime Prevention Orders as published by the National Crime Agency)

Disqualified Director: Individuals on the Companies House Disqualified Directors Register

Date of birth

None: Date of birth will not be considered when performing a pep and sanction check. This configuration will result in the most false-positives

Exact Match: A profile will only be returned if there is a name match, and an exact date of birth match

Year of Birth: A profile will only be returned if there is a name match, and year of birth match

Include matches without a date of birth: 51% of peps do not have a date of birth registered against them. When Exact Match or Year of Birth is configured on, by default profiles without a date of birth will not be returned. This configuration enables partners to set strict criteria (e.g. Exact Match or Year of Birth) without missing potential true peps for whom a date of birth is not registered.

Name match

Exact Match: A profile will only be returned if there is an exact forename and surname match, or an exact Alias match

Fuzzy Match: A profile will be returned if there are up to two character differences between the input name and the profile/alias name (e.g. Elliott vs Elliot, Stephen vs Steven)

Default countries

All: This identifies peps and sanctioned individuals globally rather than limiting the partner to a specific country

PEP Tiers

Tier 1:

Tier 2:

Tier 3:

All: Search for roles within all 3 tiers.

Under UK Regulations, only roles within Tiers 1 and 2 are considered peps. An All-Tiers configuration will result in more false-positives
