Understanding your PDF Results

When an AML check has been run, you will receive a PDF of the results. This PDF will give you an overall result for the Address & Mortality and PEPs & Sanctions checks, as well as providing you with details explaining the result.

Please click here to view an annotated sample PDF report outlining some of the results you may see.

The below article discusses the results you may see in detail and what further actions may be needed in cases where we have not been able to verify the persons Address & Mortality and if possible matches come up for PEPs & Sanctions.

Address & Mortality Results

For the Address & Mortality checks you will be presented with one of two overall results:

    1. Pass - This means we have been able to confirm that there is evidence from the UK Credit             Database and UK Electoral Roll that the individual lives at the address in question.

    2. Pending - This means we have not been able to confirm that there is evidence from the UK          Credit Database and UK Electoral Roll that the individual lives at the address in question. For cases such as this, we recommend carrying out your own due diligence to confirm the individual's address as we have been unable to verify this.

Your results will then be split into two areas:

    1. Mortality Check

    2. Address Check

Mortality

For the Mortality check, you will see a table outlining whether we have matched the individual to that address as being deceased, or if there is no match, as they have not been registered as deceased at that address.

You will then have a list of remarks, which provide you with where the information has come from. In the example above, there are no records on the UK Deceased Person's database that this individual has been recorded as deceased at that address.

Address

For the Address results, you will be presented with a table outlining what sources have been matched for the individual at the address.

  • Matched means we have been able to match that area with the individual.
  • No match means we have not been able to match the individual to that address for that area of the check.

You will then have a list of remarks showing which sources have been able to be matched or not. These remarks will highlight the reason for either the pass or the pending result for the address check.

  • A green tick means the source has been matched and passed.
  • An orange exclamation mark means either there is no information from the source available
  • A red exclamation mark means there is no match to that individual at the address specified, for example if a red exclamation mark appears from the credit database. This means there is no record for the individual at the address from the credit database that they are currently living there; hence the result being 'pending' and needing you to manually complete your own due diligence.

Please see the below common examples to help you understand why the address check may return as pending.

Example One

In the example below, the individuals full name could be matched to the address by both the Electoral Register and Credit Database. Whilst the Electoral Roll had no information to confirm the individuals date of birth, the date of birth has been able to be matched via the Credit Database leading to an overall pass.

Example Two

In the example below, the individuals full name was able to be matched against the Electoral Roll but there were no records matching the individual from the Credit Database for their name or date of birth. This has led to an overall pending of the result, as we could not fully confirm the individual lives at the address.

Example Three

In the example below, whilst the Electoral Roll has confirmed this is a real address. There are no matches to the individual's name or date of birth from either the Electoral Roll or Credit Database that the individual lives there.

PEPs & Sanctions Results

For the PEPs & Sanctions checks you will be presented with one of two overall results:

    1. Pass - This means we have not found any possible PEPs & Sanctions matches to the individual.

    2. Pending - This means we have found possible PEPs & Sanctions matches to the individual. For these cases you will need to investigate and remediate the results and confirm if the possible matches are your client.

If the overall result appears as 'Pending', you will be presented with all the possible matches to your client.

If available, we will provide the following information for you to help you decide if the possible matches are your client:

    - An image of the individual who has appeared as a possible match

    - The possible matches full name

    - The possible matches date of birth

    - The possible matches nationality

    - The possible matches gender

You will then be presented with a table outlining the reason for the flag. For more information on what each check means, please click here.

Example

In the example below, the possible match has been flagged as a current and former PEP tier 1.

You will then need to investigate these results and confirm if any of the possible matches flagged are your client, and if so, complete a risk assessment on the individual. If you are unsure on the next steps, we recommend speaking to your compliance officer/MLRO for clarity.
